An Estate with tradition
Located in the heart of the Douro, Quinta do Sagrado has 20 hectares of terraced vineyards. The vines planted in 14 plots separated by variety, in addition to its privileged situation, bathed by the river and impacted by all the diversity of the Douro, give the Quinta do Sagrado a unique production of quality and extremely high reputation.
Premium wines
Quinta do Sagrado is a remarkable property, born from tradition, cultivated from the passion for Port Wine and created to produce special wines, premium, from the best selection that the Douro can offer the world.
Wine cellar and wine production
The wines are produced in a traditional way, through hand picking and selection of grapes, treading on granite mills and small batch winemaking. This process gives the wines of Quinta do Sagrado a long aging potential.
Family relationships
Tradition has been the driving force and compass of Quinta do Sagrado since its creation.
One of the oldest wine estates in Pinhão, heart of the Douro region, was owned by two centuries-old families: previously by the Cálem family, historic producer of the Douro valley, and currently by the descendants of the iconic Marquis Nicolas Alexandre Ségur, proclaimed "Prince of Vignes" by King Louis XV.
Cálem family
The Cálem family was part of this project. Since 1829 they have established themselves as a reference producer.
The production and marketing of wines are intertwined and winemaking history is made in the Douro region and in the world. The Cálem family, now in the fifth generation with José Maria Cálem, not only specialized in the production of premium wines, but also developed the infrastructure and export logistics.
The dedication of the Cálem family and their knowledge regarding the entire quality production process certainly gave Quinta do Sagrado a differentiated position among Portuguese wineries.
